The Details:
This 2005 VZ Holden Monaro CV8 is a well kept, lower mileage example of the marque’s reborn legend, offered in largely original condition with a well documented history and a routine service offered to the buyer.
In 2001, Holden brought the Monaro name back to great fanfare, following a 25-year hiatus and a tremendously successful 1998 reveal. And despite all the hype and pressure stemming from that early appearance, the car lived up to expectations, seeming to strike a particular chord within the Aussie automotive community.
The ‘VZ’ update came a few years later in late 2004, squeezing a few more kilowatts out of the V8 and fitting a new 10-speaker audio system with a pair of subwoofers, a dual exhaust system and some aesthetic updates that included bonnet scoops and revised bumper treatment. Reported to be largely original, this car comes from that later series, equipped with the 5.7-litre LS1 V8 paired with an automatic transmission.
It’s finished in ‘Devil’ yellow, a signature colour for the model which suits its more aggressive visual character. The black interior features a factory hands free mobile kit.
The side skirts and front and rear bumpers have been refinished to rectify stone chips and minor blemishes, the work reported to have been carefully colour-matched. A small interior fault is also noted, with the centre-console storage lid not holding closed due to a worn or broken clip.
This Monaro has been in the seller’s care for the past eight years and is reported to have full books to 78,500 km. The original differential bearings were replaced in April 2026, with fresh differential oil at the same time, a common concern in M80 differentials, and receipts for the work are said to accompany the car. The seller also notes brand new Bridgestone Potenza tyres all round.
A basic service, including oil, coolant and a general inspection, will be provided for free by a local Holden service team if requested by the buyer before final sale.
The car will be sold with valid registration until February 2027.
This 2005 VZ Holden Monaro C8 represents a compelling opportunity to acquire a classic modern muscle car, from a defining moment in Australia's motoring culture in the new millennium.
