Finished in Verde Pino over a tan interior and showing 58,767 km, this 1977 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV 2000 presents as a usable Australian market example of the sharply styled Type 116 coupe.

The Alfetta GTV 2000 was an important step forward from Alfa’s beloved earlier 105-series coupes. Styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it combined a wedge-shaped ‘70s body with the marque’s charismatic twin-cam engine and a sophisticated rear transaxle layout. This gave it a 50/50 weight distribution and contributed to the balanced handling characteristics for which it would become known. 

Built in November 1977 and understood to be an Australian-market example, this car is equipped with a 2.0-litre twin-cam inline-four, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. Standard specification included disc brakes, torsion-bar front suspension and a de Dion-style rear layout with Watts linkage.

The seller describes the handsome Verde Pino paintwork as fair, and inside the tan upholstery presents in similar sound order, equipped with Veglia instruments and woodgrain trim. An aftermarket Pioneer stereo and additional hatch-mounted speakers have been fitted.

The seller reports the car to be original, but notes no service history and an intermittent ignition-switch issue.
