The Details:

This 2008 Aston Martin Vantage N400 is a neatly presented right-hand drive example of Aston’s upgraded Nürburgring-inspired limited edition roadster.

Introduced in 2005, the Vantage gave Aston Martin a smaller, more agile and comparatively attainable model in contrast to the DB9. Beautifully balanced, with a composed chassis and plenty of performance, the car was near universally praised and, thanks in no small part to its handsome good looks, all timer of an engine note and rarity on the roads, quickly became an icon of mid-2000s cool.

Unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, the V8 Vantage N400 took the base car, which already featured some motorsport-derived design, and opened the performance envelope a little wider. Available as either a coupe or roadster, it celebrated the marque’s success with the V8 Vantage N24 in the grueling ADAC Nürburgring 24 hour races. Production was planned as 240 coupes and 240 roadsters, matching the 480 seconds in the 8 minute Nürburgring lap set by the production car. 

For the N400, the hand built 4.3-litre quad-cam V8 was uprated to 400 horsepower, while peak torque increased to 420 Nm. The engine retained dry sump lubrication and drove the rear wheels through a rear-mounted six-speed transaxle, a carbon fibre propeller shaft and a limited-slip differential. This example is equipped with Aston Martin’s optional six-speed Sportshift automated manual transmission. 

All N400s came equipped with the Sports Pack, which brought with it uprated springs and dampers together with lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels finished in graphite with diamond-turned faces. Aesthetic changes include extended side sills, a bright finish grille, clear rear lamp lenses and Magnum Silver finishes for the bonnet and side strake meshes. 

The roadster was engineered alongside the coupe, featuring additional structural reinforcement to preserve the coupe’s composure. Its electrically folding fabric roof is able to be opened or closed in 18 seconds and operated at speeds of up to 50 km/h. 

The plaque in this car identifies it as roadster number 133 of 240. It’s finished in Bergwerk Black over a black leather cabin, both reported to be in good condition.

The cabin is equipped with perforated leather seats with contrasting stitching, a Nürburgring circuit graphic on the centre console and the numbered limited edition plaques. Other model specific equipment included heated memory seats, satellite navigation, Bluetooth preparation, cruise control, HID headlamps and a 700-watt premium audio system. 

The odometer reads 48,177 km, and the car carries an Australian compliance date of November 2008. A service logbook will accompany the car, and is transcribed below.
