The E60 generation BMW M5 was one of the most capable performance sedans of its era, taking a comfortable, practical and understated luxury sedan and combining it with a bespoke high-revving V10 and chassis developed by BMW M to produce the ideal driver’s daily. 

Power is courtesy of BMW’s naturally aspirated 5.0-litre S85 V10, revving to 8,250 rpm and offering 507 bhp in its P500 and P500 Sport modes. BMW quoted 0 - 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, placing the five-seat M5 firmly into contemporary sportscar territory. 

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed SMG III automated manual transmission, which uses an electrohydraulically operated single clutch and offers launch control. Its Drivelogic system allows the driver to vary shift speed and character, while preferred engine, transmission, stability control, damper and display settings can be stored through MDrive and recalled using the steering-wheel-mounted M button.

Built in 2008 and wearing a May 2008 compliance plate, this example shows 173,250 km. It’s finished in Carbon Black Metallic over a black leather interior and is understood to ride 19-inch Style 166M alloy wheels, now fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres. The seller notes some scratches to the alloy wheels. 

It is understood to have been tuned with an Evolve Alpha-N engine remap, and the seller reports that it has undergone a top speed unlock. An iPE Valvetronic exhaust system is also fitted. 

Inside, the black leather cabin features powered front seats, brushed metallic trim, satellite navigation, heads-up display and dual-zone climate control, and retains its genuine floor mats. The dashboard, cupholder and heads-up display have reportedly undergone repair.
