A well specified 2017 model year Porsche 911 (991.2) Carrera S, offered in Guards Red with the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission and Sport Chrono package.
Unveiled in September 2015, the facelifted 991.2 replaced the traditional naturally aspirated engines of the base 911 with a new family of 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-sixes. While the change from natural aspiration to forced induction may have been controversial at the time, Porsche’s engineers did what they do, and delivered a car that retained the character of its 3.4 and 3.8-litre older siblings, in a slightly more mature package (and with more power to boot).
In the Carrera S, power from the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six went up to 309 kW, with torque jumping up 60 Nm delivered both earlier and more consistently than the earlier car. Equipped with PDK and the Sport Chrono Package as this car is, Porsche quoted a 3.9 second sprint to 100 - making this the first Carrera to drop under four seconds.
The Sport Chrono Package adds a steering wheel mode switch to dial in Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual drive modes, which tune the PASM system, dynamic engine mounts, PDK shift mode and exhaust. Dynamic engine mounts, analogue and digital stopwatch and performance display are also included.
A PDK-equipped car like this one also gets Launch Control and the Sport Response button, which gives you a 20 second window in which engine management is adjusted and the optimal gear selected for what Porsche calls an even more spontaneous response.
Other equipment on the Carrera S includes six-piston front callipers and 350 mm discs, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, Porsche Active Suspension Management and larger 20-inch wheels.
This car is finished in Guards Red complemented by black exterior detailing, including the mirror caps, badging and 20-inch wheels. The black leather cabin is equipped with the Sport Chrono package, Porsche Communication Management with Apple CarPlay and satellite navigation, front and rear parking sensors, electrically adjustable black leather seats, heated front seats and dual-zone climate control.
