1994 AC Cobra Replica - One Owner

Fast Facts:

A one-owner AC Cobra replica, built from a David Tucker kit

427 ci Windsor stroker crate engine installed in 2013 featuring Keith Black pistons and bottom end, Holley carburettor, MSD ignition and exhausting out of working side pipes

Jaguar suspension and brakes, electronic power steering

The Details:

Put a list of Carroll Shelby’s creations up against a list of the greatest cars to come out of the United States, and you’ll find an astonishing amount of crossover, including everything from the GT350 Mustang to the legendary GT40. Perhaps the car to kick it all off, however, was the AC Shelby Cobra.

The original’s vanishingly rare and appropriately unattainable status inspired ingenuitive drivers to take matters into their own hands, which leads to this car - an Australian-built 1994 AC Cobra Replica, built and offered by its sole owner of the past 33 years.

The car was built up from a fibreglass body and chassis supplied by David Tucker, subsequently associated with RC Sports Cars in Dandenong. Engineering documentation is dated August 1999, while the car was first registered in August 2001.

Originally powered by a fuel-injected Mustang V8, a 427 ci Windsor stroker crate motor was installed in 2013, equipped with Keith Black pistons and bottom end, roller cam, roller rockers, Holley carburettor and MSD ignition.

This is paired with a handmade stainless steel exhaust exiting from fully operational side pipes, and a Tremek TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission. The chassis is equipped with Jaguar Mark 2 front and rear independent suspension and brakes, as well as electronic power steering.

Bodywork is finished in black with contrasting red stripes. The work is understood to be original and very well presented, having been consistently garaged and covered throughout the car’s life. The Cobra rides 20x8-inch wheels at the front and 20x12-inch at the rear.

The cabin is trimmed in red and black leather and fitted with classic VDO instrumentation. The interior is similarly reported to be in excellent condition, with the exception of the handbrake requiring minor adjustment.

Approximately 1,000 km is reported, and the Cobra is understood to have been serviced by the owner throughout its life. It will be sold with spare keys and engineering reports and certificates. It has been maintained on Victorian club registration until recently, which is untransferrable and will therefore require registration by the new owner.

Offered directly from its sole enthusiast owner following a lifetime of conscientious care, this AC Cobra replica represents an exciting opportunity to live out the dream of owning and driving one of the world’s great automotive icons.
