This 1971 Fiat-Giannini 500 TV is a rare to find and genuine example of the desirable Giannini-developed 500, first registered in Italy in February 1971 and now located in Hawthorn East, Victoria. 

Giannini became closely associated with performance versions of small Fiats during the 1960s and 1970s, building both road and competition derivatives. The 500 TV was built as a homologation special for Group 2 racing and is among its best known cars, the race car winning the 500cc class of the 1966 Italian Touring Car Championship.

First registered in Italy on 22 February 1971, this car later came to Australia and is accompanied by its original Italian registration and purchase documentation, original Italian plates, ASI documentation and two sets of keys.

The Giannini identification plate records the model as a FIAT 500 TV, chassis number 2621323 and engine number 3324807 most likely built in 1970. A separate Fiat chassis stamping also carries the 110F designation and chassis number 2621323. The car retains its original Italian number plates and accompanying Italian documentation and is accompanied by ASI recognition.

Finished in Rosso Corallo, the Fiat is understood to have been restored and repainted in 2014, retaining the folding fabric roof, chrome trim and Giannini badging. Likewise, the cabin has been refurbished with sports seats and new carpeting.

At the rear is an air-cooled 499.5 cc two-cylinder engine incorporating Giannini modifications. Its current specification has been further developed with twin Weber carburettors, electronic ignition, a three-litre alloy sump, five speed manual with synchromesh, and a sports exhaust. 

The suspension is also understood to have been renewed and improved front and rear. Front disc brakes and wider alloy wheels complete a more spirited specification leaning into the car’s competition credentials.

The odometer presently shows approximately 5,620 km, which is not warranted. The seller reports a full service history and advises that maintenance has been completed regularly despite limited use, with the most recent work carried out by a private mechanic in February 2026 at 5,601 km.

In the care of the seller for approximately ten years, this Fiat-Giannini 500 TV is an exceptionally rare to find example of the oft-imitated homologation classic, benefitting from both aesthetic restoration and mechanical development.
