2009 Nissan GT-R (R35) 'Spec V'

Fast Facts:

  • One of approximately 110 Spec V examples understood to have been produced worldwide, making it among the rarest factory R35 GT-R variants

  • Refinished in iconic Bayside Blue, a colour synonymous with the R34 GT-R and not offered on a factory R35 until the 50th Anniversary Edition

  • Further developed with Öhlins DFV suspension, HKS and GReddy hardware, carbon intake and a switchable full titanium exhaust.

  • Original removed components reported to accompany the car

The Details:

One of approximately 110 examples understood to have been produced worldwide, this 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V is a Japanese market example of Nissan’s ultimate R35 GTR. Showing just 22,474 km, it has been refinished in the iconic Skyline finish of Bayside Blue and further developed with a considered selection of mechanical and interior upgrades.

Launched in Japan in early 2009, the Spec V flipped the marque’s classic V Spec designation and took the already formidable R35 in a more track focused direction. Nissan removed the rear seats and fitted Recaro carbon bucket seats up front, carbon ceramic brakes, lightweight RAYS forged wheels, fixed rate suspension, a titanium exhaust and carbon fibre aerodynamic components, reducing weight by around 60 kg.

In factory specification, its 3.8-litre VR38DETT twin turbo V6 produced 357 kW and 588 Nm, driving all four wheels through a six-speed GR6 dual clutch automatic and ATTESA E-TS system. The Spec V also introduced Nissan’s high gear boost control, momentarily increasing turbocharger boost to provide stronger torque through the middle and upper rev range. The handling package was completed by carbon ceramic brakes with six piston front calipers, lightweight forged RAYS wheels and a firmer, circuit oriented suspension set up.

This car has seen further development, with the seller reporting an AIRSPEED carbon fibre intake system, GReddy Type RZ blow off valves, an HKS EVC boost controller and a full titanium mid to rear exhaust with a switchable valve. Öhlins Road & Track DFV dampers and HARDRACE front and rear sway bars have also been installed, with the RAYS wheels currently wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.

Transmission work is reported to include an upgraded gearbox control computer, replacement shift fork and gearbox sensor, together with a reinforcement ring. Further mechanical and electrical upgrades include a KOYORAD Racing reservoir tank, replacement air conditioning cooling components and a lithium ion battery. The original removed components are understood to accompany the car.

This example benefits from a full repaint in iconic Bayside Blue, a finish which would not appear on a factory R35 until it was revived for the model’s 2019/2020 50th Anniversary Edition. The paintwork has since been protected by full body paint protection film. This example also features carbon detailing, including the Spec V rear wing and front aero.

Inside, the factory Spec V Recaro seats remain, joined by a Zestek Racing carbon fibre steering wheel, yellow seat belts and extensive Alcantara and leather retrimming across the dashboard and surrounding areas. The cabin has also received additional sound deadening, Apple CarPlay and an upgraded audio system incorporating a Casumar Audio DSP amplifier and ROCKPOWER 10-inch subwoofer.

First registered on 1 May 2009, the car recently arrived in Australia and carries September 2026 compliance. It is unregistered and offered with partial service history. The seller advises that a comprehensive service and inspection was completed following its arrival in Melbourne, including replacement oils and fluids.

An extremely rare example from the R35’s performance lineage, benefitting from some considered upgrades, retained original parts and the iconic GT-R finish Bayside Blue, this 2009 Nissan R35 GTR Spec V is as desirable as it is distinctive
