The Details:

This 1992 Range Rover Vogue is an Australian-delivered example of the classic Rangie, understood to have had just three owners in its lifetime after being retained by its original Adelaide family for more than 30 years. It presents in largely original condition with extensive mechanical maintenance reported and approximately 364,400 km recorded.

The introduction of the Vogue special edition Range Rover in 1981 was perhaps the first sign of the venerable 4WD’s shift to the luxury segment it operates so confidently in today. The Vogue became a permanent model a few years later, and by the early ‘90s the Range Rover was well established as a luxury vehicle, while having lost none of its impressive off-road capability.

This Vogue is understood to have been supplied new in 1992 by Western Mercedes Motors in Adelaide to Mr Bill Raymond Boyd. It reportedly remained with the original family for more than 30 years, receiving maintenance through the supplying dealership’s workshop during that period.

The vehicle subsequently passed into the care of an Adelaide-based collector of Range Rover and other British vehicles. The engine, automatic gearbox, transfer case and differential are reported to have been rebuilt during the preceding decade, with relatively limited use following this work.

In 2026, it featured in a June 2026 Wheels magazine article exploring the history of the original Range Rover and the development of the Vogue into one of the defining luxury four-wheel drives of its era.

Under the hood is a naturally aspirated fuel injected Rover 3.9-litre V8, producing 134 kW and 304 Nm in Australian specification. Paired with a four-speed ZF automatic transmission, the alloy V8 delivers power through a permanent four-wheel drive system incorporating a two-speed transfer case and viscous coupling centre differential.

Underneath, the Range Rover retains its traditional ladder chassis and live axles. The seller advises that it was originally equipped with air suspension that has since been replaced with a conventional coil spring and damper arrangement. It is also reported to have received a dual fuel conversion, allowing operation on petrol or LPG.

This Range Rover is finished in a rare factory original colour of Westminster Grey Metallic, complemented by subtle silver pinstriping and contrasting black trim. Further details include black bumpers, yellow-tinted auxiliary lamps, a rear towbar and original 16-inch three-spoke alloy wheels, known as Shadow wheels, retaining their characteristic dark centres and polished outer rims.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed with charcoal cloth upholstery, accented by wood door trim, which is understood to have been refinished and repolished. Equipment includes air conditioning, power steering, electric windows and mirrors, cruise control, central locking and a split-folding rear seat. A replacement Bluetooth stereo provides modern audio connectivity, while the remainder of the cabin remains in period presentation.

The seller reports approximately four years of ownership, with the vehicle most recently serviced by Unique Star Mechanical Services in Dandenong in June 2026. It is accompanied by a partial service history, without its original handbooks. Currently showing approximately 364,400 km, the Range Rover is offered unregistered.

This Australian-delivered Range Rover Vogue has a unique history, given its 30 years with a single family, and is presented in largely original, well cared for condition with some characteristic weak points already addressed.
