The Details
Finished in stunning Zircon Green metallic paintwork, this 1968 Ford Falcon XT GT has been maintained in its original factory specification and benefits from a full restoration, representing a compelling turn-key opportunity to get behind the wheel of an Aussie icon. It will be sold with a letter confirming its authenticity and original specification from Ford.
The Ford Falcon XT GT was introduced in 1968, a few months into the Falcon XT’s lifespan, and brought additional performance to the updated model. A lot of this came from a new four-valve 5.0-litre, 302 CID, Windsor V8 which was capable of 230 horsepower and increased torque. A limited-slip differential helped get that power to the ground and dual circuit brakes kept everything in check.
First registered in April 1968, this car is finished in Zircon Green metallic paint over a black vinyl interior. It features its original 5.0-litre V8 and a four-speed all-synchronised manual transmission.
This car sits on independent ball joint suspension with coil springs, shock absorbers, wishbones and an anti-roll bar up front, with Hotchkiss type semi-elliptic leaf springs and a live axle at the rear. Stopping power is provided by power assisted discs at the front and drums at the back. It rides 14” x 6" steel wheels with stainless covers shod in BF Goodrich Radial T/A tyres.
The owner stresses that it drives and runs superbly.
The restored Zircon Green paintwork is understood to be in excellent condition. The owner notes a small paint chip on the boot lid and that the left front quarter glass locking arm was dislodged and has been retained with the car.
Inside, the restored vinyl interior is similarly excellent and does not show undue wear or tear, just some lovely patina on the original switchgear and instrumentation. The owner notes that the odometer is not functional and the fuel gauge is not working and requires replacement. This Falcon XT GT was optioned with sash type front seatbelts and a heavy duty battery.
The owner notes no known damage to the vehicle. It was most recently serviced in December 2025 by Wards Driveway, with work including brakes and a general service.
This 1968 Ford Falcon XT GT is presented in eye-catching restored condition, maintaining its original major componentry. One of just 1,415 GTs believed to have been built, it represents a rare opportunity to take custodianship of a beautifully prepared piece of Australian motoring history - and one which can be confidently enjoyed on modern roads.
