The Details

Presented in timeless Polar Silver over a Marble Grey/Midnight Blue leatherette cabin, this 1996 Porsche 911 (993) Targa is a highly desirable right-hand-drive manual example of Porsche’s final air-cooled 911. Showing just 91,775 miles and offered with a complete service history and original handbooks, it represents a well-preserved and documented modern classic.

As the final evolution of Porsche’s air-cooled 911 lineage, the 993 marked a big leap forward for the iconic sports car, then 30 years old, and was Porsche's most advanced and refined 911 yet. With a shift to the water-cooled engine following with the 996 just a few years later, it’s become highly prized by enthusiasts.

This example, originally delivered into the United Kingdom and now located in New Zealand, is presented in the significantly less common Targa trim, which was completely redesigned for the 993. The new ‘greenhouse’ design allowed the Targa cars to match the silhouette of the coupes, providing a huge glass roof that no longer required manual removal and storage by the driver.

Power comes from the iconic 3.6-litre air-cooled flat-six, producing approximately 272 horsepower which is delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

The chassis and suspension was much improved in the 993 and did a lot to tame the lift-off oversteer that the cars had become infamous for. The 993 is equipped with multi-link rear suspension that improved stability and ride quality over earlier models, as well as power-assisted steering. The car rides on factory-style alloy wheels and retains its original character throughout.

Finished in Polar Silver, the exterior presents well and paintwork is reported to be in excellent condition. The turbo twist wheels also present in immaculate condition.

This 993 Targa has travelled just 91,775 miles and is supported by a complete service history along with original handbooks and documentation. It was most recently serviced in January 2026 at 91,524 miles.

Presented in highly original condition, the vehicle retains its factory specification and has no major modifications barring a 993 GT2 front spoiler and a 993 RS rear spoiler which have been added to complete the visual appeal of the car.

With strong global demand for air-cooled 911s and the growing recognition of the 993 as the pinnacle of the era, this well documented and recently serviced Targa stands as a highly attractive opportunity for enthusiasts seeking a usable yet collectible air-cooled 911.
