This 1971 Jaguar E-Type ‘Series 3’ two-door 2+2 coupe is a restored example of the marque’s landmark sports car, offered in a red finish that is reported to be so new that it’s still drying, and benefitting from recent tuning of the V12 motor.

Introduced in March 1971, the Series 3 took Jaguar’s then ten year old E-Type and updated it with more power and space, including some new styling queues to produce the most mature form of the British icon. Series 3 cars were only available in coupe or convertible trim, and had a longer wheelbase, which allowed for not only the additional seats in the back, but a more roomy, spacious and comfortable cabin.

The E-Type’s earlier six-cylinder engine was replaced with Jaguar’s new 5,343 cc V12, wheel arches were more flared, and a larger cross slatted grille was fitted up front. A wider track, four exhaust tips and standard power steering completed the transformation.

This E-Type is equipped with the standard 5.3-litre V12, engine number 753537SA, which is paired with an automatic transmission. The seller reports that the engine benefits from tuning work and is in great shape for touring or casual use.

Likewise, the red finish has been recently repainted and is reported to be immaculate, with exterior trim and brightwork beautifully presented. This car rides wire wheels, which were an option at the time. The seller reports the cabin to have been restored and in good condition.
